We were having a fair exchange
Then in walked someone who changed the currency
We shrugged and looked away
Because to look meant something different from before
And the means that we had just spoken of
Now became unmentionable, impenetrable.
So in silence we looked away
Enclosed now within the walls of that room
That filled our averted consciousness
And made us restless
Not like before.
